The Swedish star was selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL entry draft by the Buffalo Sabres, where he made his league debut in 2015. After a stint with the Boston Bruins — including a standout 2022-23 season which saw him lead the league in wins — Ullmark was traded to the Senators in 2024.
